Elen (Mair Roberts) is a talented and experienced musician and conductor. Her list of achievements and commitments to music are both impressive and exhausting. Not only is she currently the Chair of the Music and Staging Committee for Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod but also Musical Director of a Llangollen based popular performing group, Stage2Stage. As well as working flat-out inspiring musical youngsters throughout the regions through her teaching roles she has recently been appointed conductor Flintshire County Senior Choir, having previously conducted the Flintshire County Junior Choir based in Mold.
Elen has held Musical Director and Conductor positions with the Llangollen Operatics Society with both their senior section and also their Young Uns performance group.
She became enchanted with music at an early age taking up the violin and piano at the age of 7.  By the time she was 11, she was selected as a member of the Clwyd Youth Orchestra (with Conductor Roland Morris), the North Wales Youth Orchestra (Conductor, Malcome Binney) and was also the youngest female ever recruited into the National Orchestra of Wales.
Elen is incredibly passionate about supporting musical talent in this beautiful area with our talented children. She is always smiling.
Tim (Jones) is our fabulous accompanist. Tim runs the A level music course at Coleg Cambria, Wrexham. Prior to this he was head of music at the Catholic High School, Chester. He is in demand as an accompanist and musical director. He has been Tip Top Productions’ Musical Director for many years, conducting shows at Clwyd Theatr Cymru and the Forum Theatre, Chester. He has conducted choirs in Montreux Choral Festival, Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall and Llangollen Eisteddfod. For 15 years he worked for Stagecoach theatre school, Chester and was responsible for the Children’s Chorus in professional tours of Joseph, Scrooge, Whistle Down the Wind and Jesus Christ Superstar.

Amanda (Morgan Thomas) is an experienced youth chorister having sung (years ago now) with several well respected conductors such as Jean Stanley Jones, John Hugh Thomas (National Youth Choir of Wales), Jeanette Massocchi (Welsh College of Music and Drama), the beloved Lottie Williams Parry (Rhosllanerchrugog), Helena Braithwaite (South Glamorgan Youth Choir) and Kenneth Bowen (London Welsh Choral).  Many of those choirs won at competition level and performed throughout the UK, overseas and closer to home here at Llangollen International Eisteddfod. She has received vocal training at the Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff and sang as soloist for the University Choir as an undergraduate, many, many moons ago.
Amanda has her own company and manages uses many vocal and performance techniques with private clients in the commercial sector to improve business performances. She has formed many of her best and closest friends through singing and attributes her marriage to music (and three primary-aged school kids, including Manon, pictured here).
She lives in Llangollen and is delighted to be working with Elen and Tim on this project.
Our next rehearsal will be held at
Ysgol Dinas Bran, Llangollen
